Do I need to install anything or sign up?

Does it work on a phone?
Yes, it works on phones and tablets. It also keeps the screen from sleeping while you practice. One note for iPhone — if the side silent switch is on, web audio stays muted, so flip it off.
What is tap tempo?
Tap the button four or five times along with a song and it measures your spacing to set the BPM automatically. Handy when the sheet music has no tempo marking, or when you want to know how fast a song you just heard actually is.
How do I change the time signature?
Choose 1 beat, 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 or 6/8. The first beat of each bar is pitched a little higher and louder so you can hear where the bar starts.
Is the timing accurate?
Yes. Instead of a plain timer, each beat is scheduled ahead of time on the browser's audio clock, so error never accumulates. Leave it running as long as you like and it will not drift.
Are there keyboard shortcuts?
Yes. Space starts and stops it, and the up and down arrow keys nudge the BPM by one.
How to use
- 1Set the tempo — Use the slider or the +/- buttons. If you do not know the tempo, tap it in with tap tempo.
- 2Pick a time signature — Choose 2/4, 3/4, 4/4 or 6/8 and the first beat of each bar is accented.
- 3Start — Press start and play along. The space bar also starts and stops it.
