How much can I reduce a PDF's file size?
PDFs packed with photos or scans usually shrink to around half their size. Text-heavy PDFs are already small, so they may not shrink much. The file size never grows, and if there's nothing left to compress, we just save the original as is.
Does compression noticeably lower the quality?
With the \"Recommended\" level, the difference is barely noticeable on screen. If you want an even smaller file, choose \"Strong\". Vectors like text and tables are left untouched and only images are recompressed, so the document itself stays crisp.
Is it free? Do I need to install software or sign up?
It's completely free with no install and no sign-up. You can compress PDFs right in your browser, with no Adobe Acrobat or other software needed.
Are my files uploaded to a server? Is it safe?
No. All compression happens entirely on your device (in your browser), and nothing is sent to or stored anywhere. You can safely compress sensitive documents like contracts or IDs.
Can I still select and search text after compression?
Yes. Only the images inside the PDF are recompressed, so the text layer stays intact. Copying and searching text still work perfectly after compression.
